The Hawthorne House Project
About The Hawthorne House…
Throughout Digital Drafting 1, students were required to complete a semester-long project making edits to a home using a program called AutoCAD. This project was based on a beautiful home called “The Hawthorne House” built in 1923.
Demolition Plan
Program: AutoCAD
For this portion of the project, students were needed to go in using the program, AutoCAD, and create a demolition plan that would give the home a modern feel and be better suited for a 21st-century family. The dashed lines in the figure show the areas that would receive changes.
Construction Plan
Program: AutoCAD
This figure represents the floor plan of the home after implementing the changes made in the previous demolition assignment. The AutoCAD program was used to create a depiction of how the house could be staged.
Elevations
Program: AutoCAD
During this part of the project, students were to use AutoCAD to create a front-facing view of an area within the home. This figure shows two options available for the arrangement and style of the kitchen appliances and cabinets.
Details
Program: AutoCAD
For this assignment, students were to take the cabinet drawings from the elevations assignment and create a set of detail drawings showing millwork and the manipulation of line weights. In a professional setting, these drawings would help to accurately display ideas to a fabricator. All of these designs were created using AutoCAD.
